Fibre speed is only 90Mbps (up and down), I pay for 1Gbps

Is there a reason why I am losing 90% of the service I am paying for?

I recently noticed serious lag working from home… I performed a test as above.

I can understand the odd 200Mbps discrepancy… But not 900Mbps discrepancy.

Both on WIFI and LAN are the same.

Same on MAC BOOK and same on Windows10 Laptop

Your cable between the (O)NT and your modem is probably bad. Could you try another cable?

an faulty lan cable falls back around 93/94 mb.

It is the cable yes - between the router and the switch… probably damaged somehow since it is a bit exposed near the skirting board and doors

Thanks for your help.  Im a little embarrassed of my poor diagnostic skills

Don't be, it happens to the best of us. Glad to hear/read that it's fixed.

Hi @KristonR

My instict is also that the issue is the cable, like Ik_Combineer said. Did you try anothe cable, cat6?

Thanks.. I will check… sorry for my ‘JUMPY’ subject title.  😐

When I connect to actual WIFI I am getting 300Mbps - Turns out I was still on wired when I performed the comparison test.

I have a NETGEAR SWITCH - could be that too

That shouldn't be the issue. If you want to know for sure, connect your laptop withtout the switch directly to the modem, preferably with another (cat6) cable.

Or an cat5e cable. That is also good for 1Gb lines.
