Hello,

I Have fiber optic connection and KPN Box V12 serving as a modem, which is connected by ethernet to TP-Link Deco X50 3-Pack mesh, which I use as wifi. I turn of the wifi coming from the KPN Box V12.

the deco serves as acsses point only mode,

however i’m not happy with internet currently, and face many lags and issues with it.

that’s why I want to use a private better modem. is this possible ?

this is what I get from kpn service tool -

Your connection type

GoF

The modem you received from KPN

KPN Box V12 F5359

Your current fiber optic connection point (FTU)

FTU_TY01

Own or a KPN fiber optic ONT

KPN ONT

Your own modem must meet at least the following requirements:

  • Ethernet connection with WAN port with RJ-45 connector for use of UTP (twisted-pair) cables.
  • Please note: use the available NTU media converter (with Ethernet connection and RJ-45 connector). The fiber optic in the FTU (where the glass is mounted) is very vulnerable. Disconnecting it from the NT (with Ethernet connection) is strongly not recommended.

If you don't have a televisie subscription at KPN you can use many routers as long as they are able to setup a pppoe connection vlan 6.

@sar12 You can use the Deco Main Node as Router connecting to KPN ONT.

You can use anything for username and password
Internet VLAN 6/Priority 1
IPTV VLAN 4/Priority 7

By example Port 1 - WAN : VLAN 6

Port 2 - IPTV: VLAN 4

Port 3 - Ethernet Backhaul to 2nd Deco Node

Thanks, I don't have IPTV. Just kpn internet only

@sar12 If you don't have IPTV, you don't need to enable IPTV/VLAN, just Internet VLAN

Thanks for the help 🙏🙏

This does not work with TV from KPN as this is so-called bridged-IPTV where KPN uses routed-IPTV where the settopboxes are on the same (V)LAN as all other devices and an IGMP proxy server need to be configured to get the TV streams from vlan 4 at the WAN side.

But fortunately @sar12 does not have television from KPN.

@wjb Deco x50 supports IGMP Proxy

IPTV IGMP-proxy
IGMP-snooping
Bridge
Tag VLAN

Correct but the configuration you showed seems to be for bridged-IPTV and not for routed-IPTV.

With routed-IPTV the settop boxes should not be configured on a separate vlan.

But for TS this does't matter as he has no TV subscription.
