Good morning,

I’m asking for my friend who has an old mobile (15 years old) which is a Samsung GTE1150.

She is with T-mobile and it’s on the 2G network, which they close on 01 June.

She uses prepaid only, and only needs the phone for text messages / calling, not the internet.

Would it be possible to switch her to KPN (pre-paid), as she'd like to keep her current phone and current number if possible. We saw KPN still has the 2G network, so please let me know if it’s possible and what is the best process. My guess is KPN sends a new sim card for her, but I also wonder how it works because her phone has the older style larger sim cards  (link to her phone model is here).

Then I see there’s an option for Number porting, so she can keep hopefully also keep her current phone number.

Thank you for any advice! Claire

Hi,

Yes she can keep her number and 2G will be up and running until 2025.

Before you ask for number porting, u have to have already the new KPN Prepaid simcard: https://shop.kpn.com/mobiel/prepaid/

After that she can ask for number porting. KPN simcards are sended in 3 sizes, u can just push the size out u need.

thats basically all, its easy.

Wow that’s so great to hear it’s possible!

Thanks so much for your helpful reply!  My friend will be so happy to keep her phone, I’ll buy her simcard today and organise the porting afterwards, so great to hear it’s possible and looks quite easy! Thank you! Claire
