Fiber connection keeps dropping to low speeds

Hi!

I have recently started subscription for fiberglass connection. Speed is great, however I have noticed that every now and speed drops significantly to nearly 0 MB/s:

That is very noticeable when downloading large files (on Steam platform) - speed spikes to ~90MB/s and then drops to nearly 0 MB/s for couple of seconds and this goes on until download is complete.

This is also heavily impact my ability to stream, I am losing connection every ~20 minutes for couple of seconds

I have downloaded 11GB file from my google drive and noticed that download dropped from ~50MB/s to ~10MB/s for a brief moment

As much as I understand that speed drop can happen it affect the quality of streaming services unstable (Youtube/Netflix/Twitch)

Mentioned issues were not occurring before I have switched to KPN services.

What I have tested:

  • Different cables( connected both to PC and the fiberbox)
  • Wi Fi connection (same results as mentioned above)
  • Router reboot :P
  • multiple cloudflare speed test which results vary from 0% up to 20% packet loss
  • waveform bufferbloat test that results in low bufferbloat value but indicates ms spikes (250ms spike during download/upload) https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat?test-id=9eb981cd-0ce4-4ae5-b0d0-f516761bd361

    Any advice or help appreciated!

Hey @Czama. Welcome to the KPN Community! I can imagine that you need a stable and fast connection when streaming yourself. That needs to be looked at seriously.

And fortunately that is already happening :) If I look at your details in your profile, you have already contacted us and a ticket has been created. That is also what needs to be done in the event of a faulty connection.

In the meantime, two technicians have also been by your address to repair your fiber optic line. Has that now succeeded or are you still experiencing drops? I also do see that you received a callback request by email and SMS today. Have you been able to contact the ticket department again? I think there is still something to discuss.

If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know. Otherwise I would like to advice you to contact the ticket department, so that they can help you further.
