When will KPN finally install the fiber connection?

Hello,

I’ve been trying for now 1.5year to get fiber installed at my address, but I’m still waiting with no clear update.

According to the KPN website, fiber is already available here, and my account has even been switched to a fiber contract (since the price is the same).

However, the installation never happened. I cannot count how many times I called KPN to ask when it would be possible, but I keep getting different answers or no follow-up.

Meanwhile, I’ve been experiencing ping issues and short connection drops for about a year now. I know that this can’t really be solved remotely (I tried so many solutions ...) the only option would be to schedule a technician visit. But since I’d have to pay if the issue is on my side, I don’t want to take that risk, especially when the real solution is would be to have fiber properly installed.

I also registered on the website months ago to get notified when a technician would be available, but it’s been 3–4 months and I haven’t received any update.

Could someone please check:

When fiber will actually be installed at my address?

Why the process is taking so long?

Whether there’s a way to finally schedule the installation?

Thank you for your help. This situation is getting really frustrating, especially since I’m paying nearly €45/month for a connection that drops regularly. My actual contract is finishing in 2months...

Hi @dupasj and welcome to our KPN Community. I’m sorry to read that there's not been any real updates for your fiber connection and glad you created a topic addressing this.
I can imagine it gets very frustrating, especially if your current connection isn't as stable as it should be.
I'd be happy to look into it with you!

Firstly, I'm curious, what does our fiber check say when you enter your address? Is that the place that states that fiber is available on your adddress, as you mentioned?
If so, could you post a picture here of the connections in your utility closet? Specifically the KPN Connections.
Do make sure the serial number of the fiber access point (if there is one in the utility closet) isn’t legible.

Could you also fill out your community profile with your address and the last 3 digits of the IBAN known to us or your date of birth? You can add these underneath ‘persoonlijke opmerkingen’.
This information is only visible to the moderators here. That way I can take a look and see what the status of your connection is.

Hi @dupasj can you make sure that there is no fiber in your home? Usually, the fiber enters your house at the meterkast. Or is there still an orange wire sticking out of the pavement in front of your house?

If KPN thinks that you are already on fiber, either you should just make the switch yourself (provided that you know where the fiber connection is) or there could be an administrative mix up.

If you are sure that there should be fiber in your house, just ask KPN for a technician (monteur) who can connect the fiber for you.

The fiber wasn't available when I started the contract 2 years ago and was supposed to arrive in 2 months after the beginning of my contract.

I am pretty sure I still have ADSL câble. (My box didn't change and mine doesn't look like a fiber internet box)

I indeed would like to be able to schedule an appointment with a technician, but how?! Since they are not responding if I order for fiber contract.

Good evening,

My address is **** Amsterdam. As you can see on the screenshoot, the fiber is available. I already request for it using this fiber check link but I never get any reply for it …. I updated my profile with my date of birth and my address. I also added the picture of the connections that I have right now. Note that I don’t have any wire from my utility closet.

Thank you! I've checked the fiber status, and from what I can see the fiber access point hasn't been connected into your home yet. It will be connected once you place an order to be switched to fiber. The point on your photo is the copper access point, so that tracks.

However, you said you already put in a request for this so I'd like to check what's going on with that. Your date of birth isn't added to your profile yet, could you add this please? Then I can check the status.
Send a message here once you’ve done so!

Alternatively, if you'd prefer faster communication, you can also contact us on FacebookX or Instagram. My colleagues there will be able to check this as well.
If any of those channels have your preference, do send us a private message there with your address, name of the subscriber and your date of birth. Then they'll be able to help you with this as well!

Please keep me posted if you do contact one of our social media channels. I'm curious to see whether this can be solved quickly. 🙂
