Probleem met iPhone 17 Pro Max pre-order bij KPN door geweigerde betaling

On 19 September, I pre-ordered the iPhone 17 pro max from KPN. I did everything online, paid with my Revolut card (which was accepted at checkout), and was excited to finally receive the phone today.

But when the courier arrived, he refused my card and cancelled the order — even though KPN never warned me that this payment method wouldn’t be accepted at delivery. Because of this:

  • My order is cancelled and the phone is now out of stock.  I need to place a new order and wait for one month.
  • I lost the special trade-in bonus from the first-batch preorder.
  • Customer service told me they can’t do anything to help.

I had planned to use KPN for both mobile and internet. After this experience, I’ve decided to switch to Vodafone instead.

This was supposed to be an exciting preorder — instead it has been nothing but disappointment.

Hi @Super Z

Welcome to the KPN community.

I understand that you were quite disappointed when the courier told you that your Revolut bank card was invalid, after which your order was canceled.

This is because the Revolut card doesn't have an IBAN bank account number, only a Visa credit card number.
The courier will only accept a bank card with your IBAN bank account number.
This is because the courier, on behalf of the provider, must verify that the account number you provided is correct.

Therefore, there's no point in ordering the latest iPhone 17 Pro Max from Vodafone or another provider using your Revolut account.

This is because the same courier also delivers on behalf of Vodafone and Odido, just like with KPN.

So, use a bank account with a debit card from another bank, such as ABN AMRO, ING, Rabobank, or ASN.

If you only have a Revolut bank account, it's best to KPN Shop visit one nearby.
This is the easiest and most convenient option in this situation, as your bank account will be checked by the store employee.

This will prevent another disappointment!

Hello @Super Z , thanks for your message and welcome to our Community :)

I completely understand your disappointment and this is definitely not the experience we want for you. When you place a preorder online, the system indeed accepts certain payment methods, but at the time of delivery only Dutch bank cards (Maestro, V-Pay, or iDEAL-linked cards) are accepted by the courier. Unfortunately, Revolut is not supported there, which caused the cancellation. I’m also truly sorry to hear that this experience has led you to consider leaving us. I can understand how disappointing it must feel to have your excitement around a new iPhone preorder turn into frustration instead. That’s never the impression we want to leave with our customers.
