SMS:  BESCHERMING AAN to 1266

This places a block on your KPN connection, preventing you from incurring out-of-bundle charges for data usage.

Making calls, receiving calls, and texting will be charged separately.

Yes, this was done and I still am told I am being charged close to €100 euros

Unfortunately, the roaming costs you have already incurred will simply be charged to your next monthly mobile bill.

KPN does not reimburse these incurred costs (for data usage abroad), and you simply have to pay them.

The contract holder is personally responsible for the use of his or her smartphone abroad.

If you received the warning before the data was blocked, the usage that had already taken place is unfortunately still charged. The SMS block only prevents additional out-of-bundle data usage after it has been activated.

These roaming charges will normally appear on your next KPN mobile bill. Unfortunately, KPN generally does not reimburse roaming costs that have already been incurred outside the EU, as the account holder is responsible for the use of the mobile connection while abroad.

I understand this is frustrating, especially when the amount is so high. It may still be worth contacting KPN Customer Service to explain the situation. While they usually cannot waive the charges, they may be able to review the bill or discuss possible payment arrangements if needed.
