About returning internet equipment, unsure whether it was returned by my ex-partner and cannot confirm it myself

Hello!

I had a KPN home wifi subscription from october 2024 - february 2026, when I lived in the Netherlands. I emigrated on feb 26, and cancelled my subscription, but I had to move before I got an email about returning the equipment. My (now ex)-partner (whom I lived with) was supposed to return the equipment by bringing it (the router & cables etc) to a KPN store, but I am unsure of whether that happened or not and I cannot confirm this since I am in a different country and we no longer talk to each other.

I’ve now received an email to return the equipment or I’ll have to pay a fine, but what am I to do if I believe that the equipment has been returned but cannot confirm this? What if it hasn’t been and cannot be returned either? Is there some one-time fee I must pay then for the lost equipment?

I'm sorry to read about your breakup, those can be harsh situations. I can imagine you can't check what happend with the equipment.

The best thing you can do is contact our customer service at this point! I can imagine that contacting by phone is difficult when you've emigrated. In this case I would say, reach out through  Facebook or X. That way my colleagues can look up your old contract and can check for you if the equipment has been returned to us. If not, they can help you to solve the situation. That way it will be fixed soon!
