Hi dear KPN team,

i just moved to a new rental house in Zwolle and based on the conversations with my landlord, there is no available internet there. She has already requested for fiber. My main question is since my whole street and my 2 next door neighbors on left and right already have fiber (the status in the post code check is that they are connected to fiber, how is it that my apartment building status is not yet planned? On the post code check it says that fiber is not in my neighborhood. Did the fiber line skip me or how is that done?

Thanks

Welcome @Sadra_smz!

The best course of action is to contact KPN Netwerk and ask if there’s a mistake in your registration or if they can explain why your address isn’t connected to the fibre network from KPN.

KPN Netwerk: 088 006 37 44

Hi @Sadra_smz, welcome to our community! Did you call the number bnh mentions?

We also wrote an article on this:

Hi @Thomas van KPN and @bnh

i called kpn netwerk yesterday and they said if there is no progress by this upcoming Friday or next Monday I should call again. I saw people from Allinq being busy at the other end of my street and also 2 weeks ago by my neighbor next door. Hopefully it’s arranged soon. Thanks for your help

Hi again,

I called again today and the person behind the phone was really nice and helpful. But he did mention that my landlord should perform a thing called haalbaarheid onderzoek. He mentioned it takes 3-4 weeks and then KPN can start actucally connecting my house. My other question in general is if we request the onderzoek next week, is there an estimation on when everything will be over and our house connected?

You mentioned a house and an appartement building? What do you have??

If it's a house, it could just be that the previous tenant didn't allow KPN to connect the fiber box inside during initial work. In that case, there could be a roll of fiber in front of the house under the sidewalk for your house and KPN network should be able to connect that to inside the house.

If it's an apartment building, it could be that the complete building was skipped due to some complication with permissions or technical difficulties. In that case there needs to be a haalbaarheidsonderzoek.

I was wrong mentioning house I have an appartment. It’s been renovated recently so might have been another type of building before. The main gist of this convo was that how is it possible that a whole neighbor has access to fiber (either are connected in the house or at minimum in front of their building) but only my house in the whole street doesnt (on postcodecheck it’s not yet planned and fiber is not available in your neighborhood)

(on postcodecheck it’s not yet planned and fiber is not available in your neighborhood)

You said that the postcodecheck indicates that the neighbors do have fiber (or the possibility for fiber). Then the message that is not available in the neighborhood seems incorrect. Usually what happens is when fiber is rolled out, they try to connect all houses (which is cheapest for them). But when someone doesn't permit the connection in house, the end point of that fiber cable is rolled up and put under the sidewalk (you see a small endpoint sticking out which might have been cut off). In that case in can be connected inside at a later date.

But it could also be that a complete appartment building is skipped for some reason. With a haalbaarheidsonderzoek they will investigate which is the case and if it's possible to (re)connect the house/appartment.

Timeframe depends on if there is already a cable there in front (for example 1 cable for one house) or there needs to be a lot more work because it's a complete appartment building with lots of appartements (you are probably not the only one in the building wanting fiber).

For a complete appartment building you can also follow this link. But that would be something for the appartment building owner to do.
