Ten tijd van de intro van Visual VoiceMail bij KPN, ondersteunde alleen Apple dat in de software, Google/Android had hier nog niets vergelijkbaars voor.

Toen is het voor iPhones geïntroduceerd en voor Android devices een merk-onafhankelijke VVM App.

In de tussentijd heeft Google dus ook aan een vergelijkbare service gewerkt. Echter is deze service nog lang niet over de hele linie van Android devices geïmplementeerd. Pas als dat het geval is, is er een optie dat we dit gaan uitbrengen.

Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) brought an implementation of visual voicemail (VVM) support integrated into the Dialer, allowing compatible Carrier VVM services to hook into the Dialer with minimal configuration. Visual voicemail lets users easily check voicemail without making any phone calls. Users can view a list of messages in an inbox-like interface, listen to them in any order, and can delete them as desired.

Important: Not all carriers or countries/regions offer this feature. Visual voicemail is available for:

• AT&T
  • Tip: Make sure your data plan includes access to visual voicemail. You can call AT&T customer service to ask, or you can check which data plan you have.
• Cellcom
• Coriolis
• Google Fi
• O2
• Orange
• T-Mobile

When you use your mobile carrier’s voicemail app, the visual voicemail feature on the Phone app turns off to avoid potential conflict.

Turn on visual voicemail

1. Open the Phone app .
2. At the top right, tap More options .
3. Tap Settings  Voicemail.
4. Turn on Visual voicemail.
