You only have to use it to activate it, see: https://www.kpn.com/welkom-prepaid

That only works if you are in the Netherlands.

If you are abroad fill in your Profile, you need to provide the telephonenumber and the simcardnumber.
Use the field "Persoonlijke opmerkingen(Privé)” which is only visible to KPN and don't forget to save it by clicking on Sla wijzigingen op.

Normally a KPN moderator can activate it for you, can take a few days before they come to this topic.


Hi @Marek Kazmir are you in the Netherlands?

You can only activate a KPN prepaid SIM card if you are directly connected to the KPN network.
It won't work abroad but KPN can do it for you remotely. Keep your 06 number and SIM card number at hand.

Customer service can be reached via 0800-0402 (toll free) in the Netherlands and from abroad via 0031 612001200 (normal call costs) from Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 18:00, Saturday until 17:00 (NL times). If it is not possible to call, use one of the social media channels  (Facebook X).

Hello I updated my profile can you activate the sim for me? I’m in the Netherlands but still can’t activate the number myself.

If you are in the Netherlands it should work unless the card has expired, there should be an activate before or expiration date on the prepaid package.

If it still should be valid you can call the customer service with another phone 0800-0402 (free of charge) or go to a KPN store: https://www.kpn.com/w3/vind-een-winkel/ that’s probably quicker then waiting for a KPN employee, I'm just a forum user.

I bought the he card yesterday but it was already expired… it has an expiration date of 13.10.2024

Hi @Marek Kazmir , back to the shop then. They should have checked this.
Ask for a replacement (free of charge) and check the expiration date before accepting the card.
