High ping Valorant US servers since using KPN internet

been playing for years from NL connecting to Chicago and Miami servers with ping of 100-115.
Just switched to KPN from a different provider and I’m getting 148-140.
I’m using wired connection but this issue doesn’t seem to be related to my house setup, I had a friend also with KPN connection and got the same ping. This looks like a routing issue, would someone take a look at this for me?

Hey @drigoco. Welcome to the KPN Community and welcome to KPN. I understand how frustrating higher ping can be — especially when you’re used to lower latency and the effect it has on your gaming experience.

What you’re describing does indeed sound like a routing-related difference between providers. KPN, like other ISPs, uses its own network infrastructure and routing policies, which can affect the path your traffic takes to international destinations such as Chicago or Miami. This often results in variations in latency, especially for connections that rely on long-distance routing across continents.

Unfortunately, this isn’t something we can adjust or investigate on an individual basis from our side as moderators. Routing is managed at a network level, and adjustments to it involve many factors including peering agreements, traffic management, and security protocols. That means we can’t make manual changes or reroute traffic for individual connections.

If you'd like, you can try using a VPN with a U.S.-based exit node to see if it improves your latency, though results can vary. Also, keep an eye on your connection over time, because in some cases, routing paths can change as network conditions evolve.

Let us know if you have any other questions. We’re happy to help where we can.
