Is it possible to upgrade my KPN connection?

Hello, I have this situation, I have a dual copper connection installed, at my address the speed reaches 200/60, but the problem is that I am a streamer on the Twitch platform, I am also a semi-professional Fortnite player, and the problem is that we have 1 locker installed, it is on the entrance floor, and these 200/60 MB are used for 4 floors, and in each house there is a TV and several computers, and they have not been able to install fiber optics for a year, it says that it is “planned” and so on until now, and my problem is that during the live broadcast and the game, I get a lot of freezes, there is also Packet Loss and they are from 5 to 20%, which makes the game unplayable, also during my broadcast I have poor quality and frame drops, which is due to a low Internet connection, and here is the question, is it possible to somehow increase my speed to at least 300/100, if so then what should I do to make this happen? Thanks in advance for your answer

(Sorry if I made a mistake, I'm just writing this through a translator)

It means that we have 1 KPN provider, and it is used for 4 floors for everyone, for each apartment

Good question, @Vraagje over glasvezel. At its core, it comes down to how many official addresses your building has, and how many connection points.

You've listed the address in your forum profile, thank you. So, I've taken a look and what I see is this.

The whole building is listed as an office building with a single official registration house number of 202. The bis-numbers of 1 and so on are not officially listed at the registry office (Kadaster). Which means that we also only know the main building. And the main building has one connection point.

As you've mentioned, fiber is planned. But as of yet there's no prognosis as to when fiber will happen. It is not possible to increase the speed of the current bonded copper connection. The 200/60 you have is its maximum possible speed.

So, options for improving the current contract are zero with us, at this moment in time.

Other options you could look into are getting an additional internet subscription with a second provider that delivers their signal via a different connection. For that, look into Ziggo, they have their own cable-network. Or a provider with a mobile internet data option. I've not looked into the possible speeds of these, so it might or might not work for your needs.

Additionally, the owner of the building could look into getting the subdivision housenumbers officially registered, and then could also apply for additional connection points for those housenumbers. However, that might be a pricy affair.

Hello again, thanks for your answer, and I have more questions, you say that "it is impossible to increase the speed" and how did they increase it from 100\30 to 200\60, when you reported that you increased the speed for some clients for free, and I received the same, and the question is why can't they do it again?

I also have a question about fiber optics, what do you think, what is the chance that they will install fiber optics for us before the END of summer? I just need to know if I should wait or not?

Also, can I talk to the head of my house, if I get permission, maybe you could install a separate Internet for my apartment only, where the network will not be overloaded due to the fact that a lot of devices are connected

Regarding Ziggo and other Internet providers, I do not want to switch from KPN to another network, since for me KPN is the best network, and it was even tested when in my old house I had Ziggo (1000\100) and I got almost everything the same in terms of ping and the only thing I did not have was Packet Loss, also it feels like it is not much better, and knowing KPN they want to bring fiber optics to us, so it says on the website, but I also don’t want to wait a long time, but there is no choice, so I would prefer to stay on KPN, in the hope that they can somehow help me fix my lags or bring fiber optics faster.

Perhaps you know what I should do, since I don’t want to switch to another provider, and KPN doesn’t always show itself well, but I think this is temporary.

Please take a look at the list of countries with VDSL 35b supervectoring (for speeds above 200mbs),

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_VDSL_and_VDSL2_deployments

You need to move to Germany or Czech Republic to get higher DSL speeds.

I don't quite understand what you are asking here. You mentioned yourself you have a dual copper connection. That would explain how it increased from 100/30 to 200/60. The 200/60 is the highest possible speed we deliver over copper. And that will either be a dual copper connection, or a vectored VDSL single connection.

I couldn't say. You can enter your postal code on our Fiber website. It will give you the current status, and you can subscribe to updates via e-mail.

Yes, but.

That comes back to this bit that I mentioned:

The owner could apply for an additional connection point. This is done through this website: https://www.mijnaansluiting.nl. There will be a cost for that, I have no idea how much.

And it might be necessary to get the subdivision housenumbers officially registered with the Kadaster and the county before they will do so. But that is something the building owner can discuss with the people from Mijnaansluiting.

I can't tell you what you should do. I can only give you the information that I have.

Okay, thanks for the answer, but look, you said that my house owner can request FOR EVERYONE and it will be expensive, but will I be able to connect ONLY for myself, well, they will remain on the current Internet, and I will connect only to my apartment if they allow me, and it will be cheaper?

Not the house owner but yourself (the resident) need to apply and also pay for it (around 750,- € via mijnaansluiting.nl). But you already have 2 DSL lines (pair bonding 200Mbs), you can't request a 3rd DSL line. For a extra ISRA point you may order a PSTN subscription (analog calling) and if possible KPN wil install an additional ISRA point. Maybe you can order a additional internet subscription voor the 3rd coper lijn too. Of course you need the permission of your house owner for the install an additional ISRA point.

So it turns out that I will have to pay about 750 euros to connect my apartment to the new Internet, and I will also need to order PSTN since we already have 2 DSL lines on the first floor, okay, but if I order PSTN and Internet connection for 750 euros, will they also supply me with 2 DSL lines? or how does it work, because I didn't really understand you

@Vraagje over glasvezel If is possible to order PSTN (KPN may refuse te accept the order because the technics are very outdated), but i don't know if you can order an additional DSL based on the new PSTN subscription. About the possibilities of these 2 doubts, it is better to ask the customer service.

You cannot request a new PSTN connection, and you don’t need one here either. PSTN is only used for traditional telephony. If you require only telephony services, you can now only use VoIP Only, which works over both copper and fiber.

I recommend applying at mijnaansluiting.nl to check what options are available and how much they cost. That way, you can decide on your next steps. But the owner should do this.

A few years ago, you could still get a third copper line via this trick. But probably KPN closed this route.

Digital & Analog copper lines together.
