KPN connection point to install KPN modem is missing

Hello, apologies for choosing English but I have a question.

I switched to KPN from Ziggo recently, and I am trying to install the new modem. I just learnt that Ziggo uses Coax while KPN uses ethernet cables.
I do not have an ethernet (RJ45) socket in my wall, how do I connect the new modem?

Do I have to buy an adapter?

According to the webpage, the package comes with a grey cable, but if you're sure you have fiber then it is of no use.

I do not know of all possible situations, but these instructions on the web might help. https://www.kpn.com/internet/wifi-en-modems/experia-box-handleidingen?page=kpn-box-kpn-box-12/p3_d24170

I could not find an English description, but if you right-click on the page you can choose English. It'll use Google translate to translate the pages.

If it does not help you, it's best to call KPN.

@TLV

Normally it would be supplied with two cables,  an ethernet cable with a yellow plug and a DSL cable with a grey plug.

When you have a fibre connection, you can use the cable with the yellow plug, plugged into you fibre modem.

When you have DSL connection you can use the cable with the grey plug. It depends what kind of socket you have on your wall.

If you have this kind of socket

then just plug in the grey plug.

If you have this kind of socket

you need to plug the grey plug into this

and plug this into the wall socket.

Could you mention what type of modem you have? Then I can refer you to the page with installation instructions.

Thank you for your answer,

We have fiber, with Ziggo. And we bought fiber from KPN, so that’s what we expected to be able to use.

We have the first kind of socket for DSL, but our modem does not come with a gray cable. The only cable we have is yellow and does not fit in that socket.

Our modem is the “KPN Box 12”, says in the manual and we also received the adapter to put on the outside - which we don’t think we need, seeing we already have a kpn box in the cabinet outside our apartment and there’s place to plug this thing. And that came with a red cable, too.

It might be that the Ziggo technician, when he came a few years ago, changed the socket that we currently use to plug the Ziggo modem to a Coax. I honestly can’t remember, but I know for a fact that we have fiber in our apt.

Should I just call a KPN tech?

Hi @TLV . Welcome to the Community.

Ziggo and KPN are two seperate networks so you won’t be able to connect our modem to their connection.  There should be a fibre box somewhere in your home. If not, it's best to make a call back appointment so we can analyse the situation and possibly send a mechanic.
