Hello, my SIM contract with KPN starts today but I am currently outside the Netherlands for a week. How can I activate my SIM card?

Hi @crpsalazar

Just to be sure: is it a KPN prepaid or a subscription?
A prepaid can only be activated in the Netherlands but a subscription can also start abroad.

The SIM card is sent to you in advance. It can (must) be activated online immediately. By doing so, you also confirm receipt. Then keep the SIM card safe until the start date. If it’s a number transfer from another provider, the switch usually takes place between 11:00 and 14:00 (Dutch time). This can also be done abroad. Wait until the old SIM no longer has coverage, then swap the SIM card from the old provider for the KPN SIM card and restart the phone.

Hello @crpsalazar ,

That’s only possible in the Netherlands. So you have to wait until you’re back in the Netherlands.

Hi @crpsalazar, welcome to the community. Noordzee and Ruud have given you good answers. As they mentioned we can't activate prepaid abroad, we can only activate it in the Netherlands.

Is it really prepaid? You also said 'contract’, that makes it feel like a subscription. What Ruud said applies in that case.
