Is it possible to get a technician to come and change our modem from a v10 to v12 experiabox?

Hi @Engelse69 , welcome to the KPN Community.

The first question you may encounter in this matter is: Why? Is the v10 broken? Do you have connectivity issues? Is something not working as expected?

The range isnt good enough. Moved from an appartment to a house and the signal doesnt cover where we want.

Hi @Engelse69 , if the range is not sufficient, you may consider ordering KPN’s Superwifi:

Hi @Engelse69 , at this page: https://www.kpn.com/service/monteur

There, you can order a monteur. I don’t know if KPN will bill you for it, given your situation. You will have to take it up with them.

They certainly will bill you €80 "voorrijkosten" - costs to come to your house. KPN delivers a modem/router with wifi, but if your house is complex enough it might not cover it all. You can let a technician come to improve it but that is outside the range of things a technician does for free. A different modem won't matter.

Hi @Engelse69,

Ik_Combineer explains this well. I also expect that a technician will charge costs. I also read that you have SuperWiFi's from us, so you should be able to get it working. My advice is to first try reconnecting the SuperWiFi's and modem yourself. Here's how you can do it:

  1. Turn off all SuperWifi points and remove any Ethernet cables.
  2. Turn on the first SuperWifi point and let it fully start up.
  3. Reset the first SuperWifi point (press and hold the reset button until it blinks red several times) and let it fully start up again. After a while, the light will turn purple (factory setting). Since there is no cable connection, this SuperWifi point will not communicate with other SuperWifi points and is therefore isolated.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 with the second SuperWifi point (and then for each additional SuperWifi point). For these SuperWifi points as well, do not connect the Ethernet cable yet. All SuperWifi points should now show a purple light.
  5. Now reset the KPN modem (press and hold the reset button until all lights start blinking). Allow it to fully restart (give it 15 minutes).
  6. Connect the first SuperWifi point to the modem using an Ethernet cable. The light will first blink green and eventually stay solid green. Allow this process some time, and do not disconnect too early. If the installation is successful, the light will remain green even after disconnecting the Ethernet cable.
  7. Repeat step 6 with any other SuperWifi points.
  8. Now you can reposition the SuperWifi points in your home. Keep the first SuperWifi point connected to the modem with a cable for now.

You may ofcourse choose to just order the engineer and accept the costs.Â
