HBO Max App does not work anymore with my KPN subscription

Hi

I need some help please. Recently switched to KPN from a competitor and having a few teething issues. 

I understand there is no Sky Showtime app available via KPN but I was able to download the HBO Max app which worked well for a week but then today, when opening, it gave me a message to update to the latest version and then it proceeds to tell me that this isn’t available in my country? 
 

any tips anyone?

Hello ​@ad33lafzal , thanks for your message and welcome to this Community :)

What kind of TV box are you using excactly? If you are using TV+ it shouldn't be a problem to download Sky Showtime of HBO Max. Are you using a VPN? That could be the problem in this case. Please let me know!

Thanks so much for the reply, really appreciate it.

I’ve attached a pic of what I see when I go to the apps page, does this help? I can confirm that I’m not using a VPN, we have standard KPN internet and the TV+ package. The TV box we have is a DIW7022.

If you have a  DIW7022 you can install apps by yourselves, also Sky Showtime. This article tells you excactly how to install apps on your TV+ Box. Will you let us know if this works for you?

Thanks as always for the response.

I’ve followed the guide and still get the same error as in the picture I’ve attached - “this item isn’t available in your country” and when I search for “Sky Showtime” nothing comes up at all.

I’m on the normal KPN internet with no VPN in the middle so not sure but it looks as though it thinks I’m not in the Netherlands for some reason?

As for HBO Max, that’s a strange one. It should work normally in the Netherlands. The error message you’re seeing about the app “not being available in your country” usually pops up when:

  • The app store region or the device itself is set to a different country (sometimes this happens by accident).

  • There was a recent app update that’s not compatible yet with the version available on the TV+ box.

 

A few things you could try:

  1. Restrat the TV+ Box completely (pull the power for 10 seconds) — this clears app caches and might help.
  2.  Check your HBO Max account region (just to rule out any setting there)

If that doesn't work, you can always schedule an appointment with our helpdesk for direct help. SInce we (the moderators) aren't always here I want you to know all the options to receive proper help with your issue!
