Hello,

I keep losing connection on almost daily basis.

I have to restart my modem in order to get back online.

Today it happened 3 times.
It happens also when it’s not being used,  for instance i’m not at home, nobody is using it.. and suddenly it lose connection (i notice it since i cannot access my NAS server anymore).

KPN Box 12 - V12.C.25.08.16

The Internet LED is still on, as the others, WiFi is blinking until I restart the device.

This has been roughly going on for the past 4/5 months, but not being at home all the time it wasn’t really an issue (apart from not being able to access my NAS), but now i’m back for longer time and this really needs to be fixed.

Any help? it’s getting really annoying having to restart the modem evey time, there is something clearly not OK with my box, should i get a new one perhaps?

@A_Durante The power adapter probably doesn't have enough power. Do you still have this problem when Wi-Fi is turned off? You can request a new power adapter via https://www.kpn.com/service/internet/adaptervervangen

@TDN thank you.
i’ve never tried turning Wi-Fi off, mostly 70% of the usage comes via lan, but i also have several devices going via Wi-Fi.
I’ll try ordering a new power adapter.

@TDN i went on the page, but it just asks to check my adapter via the first 4 digits.. and when i put those, it tells me that the adapter is OK and doesn’t let me order a new one

@A_Durante With Wi-Fi turned off, the router consumes approximately 2–3 watts less. If the power adapter can’t supply sufficient power, this check can confirm whether your power adapter is defective. If the online check doesn’t offer you the option to replace the power adapter, you’ll need to call customer service and explain that your router freezes when Wi-Fi is on but works fine without it.

@TDN i called customer service, they also checked the adapter and they think it is ok.

We did a modem reset for now, i’ll see if it holds up, else we’ll try something else.

Hi @A_Durante,

Did the modem reset fix the issue? Or is it still losing connection? If it's still losing connection, can you please test if it’s still happening with the wifi turned off? I understand that's rather inconvenient, but it will provide us with information about the status of the power adapter 🙂

Hi @Maja van KPN ,
for the time being it seems like it's holding up and it didn't lost connection once yet.

I'll keep monitoring how it goes these next days, and try to stress it a bit more too to see if it holds up.

@Maja van KPN looks like we spoke too soon.
it just lost connection, and i wasn't even at home using it. i came back now and there was no internet.
i'm going to disable the wifi now and see how it goes.
