Hello,

I have KPN Wi-Fi signal extender in upstairs. It is connected via Wi-Fi to my modem (which is in 1st floor) and creates mesh network.

My setup was working fine until 4 days ago. Then my iPhone, my wife's iPhone and TV starts to disconnect and connect Wi-Fi. And it became loop, even because of this our phones were drained out battery. Then, I unplug Wi-Fi booster and plugged it again. It started working as it expected for 1 day then started to doing same thing. In 1st floor where it is just connecting to the Wi-Fi without issue to directly to the modem. Is someone faced same problem and/or knows solution?

Light on the modem and Wi-Fi extenders are solid green which means there is no issue.

Another question: Is there a way to use UI of the modem in English? FW version: V12

Devices: KPN Box 12, Super Wi-Fi 2.

@pi314314, some steps that may help:

  • The distance between the modem and SWF2 may be too far resulting in a weak link.
Connecting it by cable if is better if your home allows it
  • If the above is not the case, you can try yo reset the network:
    • Log in to the modem
    • In the left sidebar choose “Instellingen”
    • In the main screen, choose “Systeem”
    • Choose  “Herstart Thuisnetwerk” button
  • You may also try to reinstall the SWF2. Short description: Connect it with a cable to the modem. When it’s up with no errors (green light is on continuously), leave for 30 minutes, disconnect and move to final location

Detailed information (Google translate if needed)

Thank you for your reply.

I tried to RESET and reconnect super WiFi 2 (with pressing RESET button on the back) but it did not help this time.

I have MAC filter on and I am using IP reserving functionality. But these settings were not changed and it was working without issue with these settings.

@pi314314, How long has your setup been working normally before these problems started?

Did you try resetting the network, or alternatively only the modem? This may help to flush out incorrect configuration settings in the modem, while resetting only the SWF may not.

Unfortunately you may indeed have to re-enter your mac and IP filtering rules.

Also, this will not help if you have a a weak signal and unreliable connection problem between your modem and the SWF.

This may get complicated and hard to solve through the forum.
Another option is to ask KPN for assistance https://www.kpn.com/service/contact-opnemen

Roughly a year may be. But there was firmware update done by KPN during this time and I had to re-configure router.

nevertheless, now it is working. I did not change anything It is solved by itself(?). :) Hope stays like that. Otherwise I will call KPN customer service.

thanks for the support.

@pi314314  Apparently the signal strength is good enough.

The modem keeps certain tables based on how devices are connected. And for wifi, some information is also kept with KPN centrally. This information is updated over time and a garbled configuration can correct itself this way. The information is kept for a while, then flushed. So you may have problems, then “suddenly” everything is working properly again. Patience is a virtue.

Anyway, good to hear your problems are solved!
