Hallo.

Sorry for writing this in english. Hopefully this won’t be an issue here.

We have internet from KPN since around December 2015.

Using the same Wifi modem Experia Box V10.

To be honest, we didn’t occur any issues from 2015 until unfortunately last week.

As I’ve received information that there will be new firmware for this modem (13.12.2024) modem just become really unstable.

While watching Netflix movie Experia Box is making full restart. It looks like device is just crashing and rebooting by itself.

Today as maybe some worker can check logs of the device, it happened today 29.12.2024 at:

14:28

14:44

15:44

16:58

Reboots are randomly. I thought that maybe after couple of days KPN will release new firmware to fix this issue, but appratently I’m dealing with this issue already for a week (or even longer). But as there was a Christmas time, I knew it won’t be fixed.

Also I don’t understand why there was firmware update if the device was working just fine since 2015.

Right now, I’m paying for the service that I can’t fully use.

Actual firmware version of device is: V10.C.24.12.11

The setup is standard and hasn’t been changed since 2015.

Experia Box V10

  • 1 device connected through LAN cable
  • 6 devices connected through WIFI (2 mobile phones, laptop, 2x TV)
  • No WIFI Signal extenders etc

  • Not all of the WIFI devices working at once!
  • Didn’t had any issues before firmware update

Hopefully someone can help with this issue, so we can solve it quickly.

Hi @TeroM .  Welcome to the KPN Community.

Sometimes the update doesn't go right and a factory default is necessary. Did you try that ( a paperclip or something like that, and then push the little reset button for about 10 seconds)

Hallo @Erwin van KPN

Of course, those steps were taken as the first try to fix those issues….

However, I've probably found the culprit of my issues with the KPN router.

As those issues were caused by my Sony TV 65XE9005.

Still, I would like to address this as it's still happening after the KPN firmware update.

When I've turned off the Wi-Fi connection in this TV. Everything is working flawlessly.

Unfortunately, I've lost the ability to use my TV as a Smart TV, therefore I need to use a different source for Streaming, so far I can just use my PS5.

Of course TV and router I’ve tried reset to factory default settings, but without any improvement.

Hi @TeroM .

Thanks for your detailed explanation. It’s quite curious that your Sony TV is causing such issues with the Experia Box after the firmware update. I'm not entirely sure why the TV is triggering this behavior. Could it be that the TV has a static IP address configured, potentially creating a conflict?

If you haven’t already, I’d recommend checking the network settings of your TV. Additionally, could you confirm if the TV has been fully reset to its factory default settings? Sometimes residual settings on the TV can interact oddly with updated router firmware.

Let us know how it goes, and hopefully, we can work towards a permanent fix!

@Erwin van KPN

I’ve tried on the TV following steps already:

  • factory reset
  • WIFI 2.4 GHz
  • WIFI 5 GHz

TV, and also other devices always using Dynamic IP. Never had to set any device using static settings. As I’ve never had issues before.

Therefore after I’ve discovered  that TV was causing the issue and I’ve disabled wifi, internet is just simply stable again.

During those few days, to be honest I’ve abused connection a little bit. Downloading from few devices at once, and nothing happened.

Found few topics on the internet that Sony TV was also causing similair behavior, and unfortunately without the solution.

I don’t know if there’s network flooding caused by this TV, but still weird that its happening after KPN firmware update.

So far I can use PS5 for streaming, so at least I can watch my favorite shows.

But maybe if more people will report this problem, it will be easier to solve.

Gr.
