What is this black box doing near my fiber connection?

Does anyone know what the black box is doing here? Supposingly the thing in white would be where you add the TY01, no?

Also, it makes no sense but I get 400 Mbs for upload and can’t even reach 200 Mbs for download..

Sure, this is an NT from Odido. If it isn't werking properly then please contact KPN and explain that your Fiber Box is still from odido and you want one from KPN for stability. They may send you one but I think they will send you an technician to swap it.

I find them really unreliable.

how is it possible I have access to a website on the internet if I am not connected to the internet? I have show you I am connected to my wifi. The problem lies there

The service tool you're trying to use can't detect that you're on a KPN connection. That can be caused by being on the wrong wifi. But it can also be caused by having a second home-product attached to your KPN ID. Or by there being an open order in your account. Or, as indicated before in the topic, by there being an outdated NT. None of those things mean that you are not connected to the internet. All it means is that the service tool doesn't work.

The outdated NT is also the probable cause for your download speed problem (assuming you are experiencing that discrepancy in speed via a cabled connection). To get this sorted, get a technician to come and replace the outdated NT.

You can use our call me now/later option (use the blue ‘maak een belafspraak’ link in the bottom right corner) to have one of my colleagues call you back. They can schedule a technician for you.

Second; and technician is free if the problem is outside of your own fault, so that means if there is a problem with the fiber or KPN hardware such as an router or tv receiver then the technician is free. It looks like your fiber is bad in this situation.

Hi @Martim, this black box seems to be a converter that is necessary for converting the fiber signal from another fiber network to your KPN connection. I'm not sure if I explain it very well, maybe @Ik_Combineer can explain it a bit further?

This is impossible. I thought where I came from the service was bad, but this is next level. The KPN website is testing my internet and telling me I am not even connected to the internet. How is this even possible? Why would I buy internet if I can reach websites on the internet without being connected to the internet… Are all internet providers in the Netherlands like this?

I mean, shouldn’t KPN actually be liable to refund me my subscription? what sort of service is this? They think I have my desk and desktop outside my house?

It may be because the black box is in between. KPN doesn’t recognize it as its own and that is why it is saying that you are not connected. Like I said before, if you have any problems please contact KPN and let a technician replace it for a good one. Even odido doesn’t use those anymore.

so for me to get the service I paid for, I have to pay on top of that to get the service I paid for in the first place? Make it make sense. Just wait out the last months to change internet provider.

This should be the answer then.

No and no. First of all; it look like you have internet now don't you? So you pay for the internet kpn delivers

Call 0800-0402 to arrange it.
