I just made the switch from KPN to budget internet.
I really enjoyed being a customer of KPN (almost 4.5 years). However once the discounts started to run dry it made a significant difference in the monthly invoice. This problem was even in the news this year.

Budget Internet is one of these no frills internet providers that uses KPNs reliable network minus the fancy stuffs. The price difference between KPN and budget internet for a 100 Mbps connection without considering any discounts is almost 15 euros per month!
I am posting this because KPN is still my favourite Internet provider ;-)
But can a loyal customer be rewarded as well and not just new customers? Because after discounts run dry sometimes you are even charged the old rate which is much higher than the current market rate of KPN for the same plan. The only way to get around this is cancel your existing KPN connection and get a discount by taking out a new connection with KPN (this makes zero sense) OR commit to a 2 year contract to avail pricing close to the current market rate (by getting offered some discounts due to longer contract). Instead of this why not ensure that existing customers are protected against price variations by:
- charing existing and old customers not more than the prevailing market rate for KPN plans.
- providing some loyalty bonus for customer delight based on their tenure with KPN.
These are just suggestions as I would have stayed with KPN with the price-to-value ratio made more sense in the long run. Hope you start making some amendments to cater to the common dutch man who wants to stream some content, get work done and do basic chores and get a good deal all while enjoying the delightful experience from the national brand 😊
There is no question / argument regarding the stability and quality of KPN's network. KPN is unbeatable in the Netherlands when it comes to infrastructure. This is why I made it sure to move to a provider that utilises the KPN network.
KPN checks the box from a price-quality perspective as long as the discounts last. Once it runs dry, we end up paying much higher that the average market rate. This extra premium might have to do with the brand reputation, excellent customer support, add-ons and various other perks (F secure anti-virus software, 10 gigs KPN cloud storage, KPN email account, KPN forum etc).
I am getting the exact same speed now as I used to with KPN. I have a 100Mbps VDSL for reference.
It is also easy to get in touch with Budget Internet customer support as it is with KPN.
